Dear GEA Members:

As you all are aware we came to a tentative agreement with the Galesburg School Board on Thursday, April 22nd. I was delighted that Dr. Asplund and I were able to send a joint statement to all members with the exciting news. It was a great relief after a long and challenging year of negotiating. Your patience and understanding throughout the entire process has not gone unnoticed and with that being said I believed it was both respectful and professional not to disclose any information with the media in advance.

On Friday, April 23rd, the Superintendent and I agreed to reserve comments about the agreement and/or any specifics about the agreement until the document was complete and the GEA had the chance to inform the membership. Regretfully, the Superintendent did not keep his word. I sincerely apologize that many of you may have learned of specifics in the most recent edition of the Galesburg Register-Mail.
